Teams
Medshow is made up many different teams, all with very important tasks and roles to help prepare and run two nights of spectacular theatre. Read on to see what each is about.
Actors
Actors are the glue that binds the whole show together - without them, there would be no show. Yes, there is a larger amount of time commitment, but if you want to get the most of the Medshow experience, make incredibly close friends, and challenge yourself to things you never believed you could or would do, then acting is for you.
Singers
Stop wasting your talents in the bathroom shower! The music directors are looking for medical students who are up for the challenge of singing in front of their friends, family and lecturers. Even if you're not the next Australian Idol, we still want you.
Dancers
Calling everyone who wants to have a barrel of fun! If you can walk, you can dance! Each year the choreographers teach new dance routines to be performed during the show. It doesn't matter if you don't know how - you'll get all the instruction you need. Dancers can also sing and act - in fact, we'd love it if you want to do more!
Band
Are you ready to get naked for a good cause? Medshow requires a select group of musicians and triangle-operators to play live music on stage during the show. Note that participation may require you to lose (temporarily) some items of clothing on stage (of course, all in good taste).
Tech Crew
Release the inner (stage) ninja! The tech crew play an important role in the darkness of the show, placing and moving props between scenes, or running the sound and lighting desks. The tech crew are also responsible for the creation of the set and props on the weekends leading up to the show - break out the paintbrushes and the jigsaws!
Front of House
An essential job with minimal commitments, the Front of House team are involved only on show nights, ushering the audience in the foyer, selling tickets in the foyer, and selling refreshments at intermission. You also get see the show for free!
Videos
Do you love your handicam, or completely obsess over the cinematography of the last movie you watched? The small crew who make up the videos team are responsible for shooting and editing videos for promotions and for the actual show if required. They also film the show in the theatre, as well as behind-the-scenes videos for the dvd.
Scriptwriters
Apart from emptying countless cans of beer, scriptwriters meet regularly with the directors during Semester 1 and assist them in writing an entertaining and original script for the show. Scriptwriters can also be involved in other areas of the show, as their commitment usually occurs before rehearsals begin.
Costumes
Working under the direction of costume director, costumes are an essential facet of any theatrical show, and Medshow is no different. Get ready to learn to cut, sew and transform cheap pieces of material into fantastic looking costumes that are the talk of the show.
